Speeding drivers are warned
Watch your speed through Wilsden
Over the last few weeks community volunteers in the Community Speedwatch campaign have recorded over 50 drivers travelling at more than 40 mph along Lane Side, Wilsden in a 30 mph zone. The Community Speedwatch campaign, which is financially supported by Wilsden Parish Council, involves volunteers being trained in the use of a handheld camera and theh going out with a Police Community Support Officer and at least 2 volunteers to record traffic speeds. The owners of cars that are recorded as speeding are sent a warning letter by the Police.
The objective of this scheme is to try and reduce traffic speeds and to warn irresponsible drivers. Although people recorded as speeding cannot be prosecuted under this scheme the Police retain a record of the drivers who have been warned.
