Parish Council calls for more local decision making

Local people know what their communities need better than civil servants in London

At the Parish Council meeting on December 5 th a motion was passed supporting the national  all party campaign for a Sustainable Communities Bill.  The objective of this campaign is to establish a system where government has to consult local people about what is going on in their area and to take note of what they say. Parish Councils as the level of local government that is closest to the needs of our towns and villages will have greater influence over the direction of government decisions that influence us under this Bill.

Peter Allison, Chairman of the Parish Council has written to our MP, Philip Davies, urging him to support this campaign which has recived support from al the main political partyies at Westminster.

More details of the national campaign can be found here.
